An 11-year-old performing arts pupil has been selected to join a glittering cast of West End stars on stage at the Usher Hall.
After being inundated with entries from talented kids from all over Scotland, Matilda Jackson from Falkirk has been selected to sing a song from Annie at the show on November 22.
Brae High School pupil Matilda, who attends the McKechnie School of Dance and Performing Arts in Grangemouth, will feature alongside international luminaries Ruthie Henshall and Louise Dearman and former S Club 7 pop icon, Jon Lee when she serves up her rendition of You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile from the hit musical.
And her teacher, Nadine Judge, was understandably delighted to hear the news.
Nadine said: "I am thrilled that one of my pupils has been selected to perform in such a prestigious show.
"Matilda, like all of my students, works really hard in dance class and her hard work has paid off.
"We can't wait to see her on stage at The Usher Hall."
The show will feature classic show tunes from Broadway as well as West End showstoppers at The Usher Hall and the audience can also expect a few festive gems to kickstart the Christmas celebrations.
Peter Ferguson, the producer of Tonight: A West End Christmas admitted the judging process had been difficult.
He told STV: "We literally had dozens of brilliant entries and the decision was a tough one. There is certainly a lot of talent in Scotland.
"We whittled the entries down to about ten stand-outs, bearing in mind we had to consider both singing and dancing abilities.
"But, in the end, Matilda's stood out. She has real charisma and stage presence despite being only 11.
"However, we would like to thank everyone who entered, they were all terrific and we will keep them all in mind for future roles."
