It's one of the most popular musicals in the canon: the rags-to-riches tale of little orphan Annie.
And there could be a similar feel-good story for the winner of a new competition, organised by the producers of a glitzy show which is coming to Edinburgh's Usher Hall on November 22.
Tonight....A West End Christmas features such West End luminaries as Ruthie Henshall and Louise Dearman and former S Club 7 hitmaker, Jon Lee.
It will also provide an opportunity for a Scottish youngster to perform You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile, one of the most famous "Annie" songs.
The winner, who must be aged between eight and 14, will have to be able to sing and tap dance, but they'll be sharing a stage with international stars.
And they'll have the chance to work with acclaimed choreographer, Murray Grant.
The show's producer, Peter Ferguson, told STV: "The easiest thing in the world would be to hire a professional.
"But we really want to tap into the talent out there and, if we can showcase a budding young performer, we should do so,
"We found a wonderful Billy Elliot last year and we're hoping Scotland can deliver a fabulous Annie for us this time around."
Anybody interested has been urged to email a video to the organisers.
These should be sent here and marked "Search for Annie".
There are some stipulations: entrants must have the permission of a parent or guardian and they will be expected to attend rehearsals.
But we're sure there are plenty of youngsters out there with a spring in their step at this news.
Tickets for the show are available online.
