Ever fancied the perfect restaurant steak but can't find time to book a table? Well, a new city food delivery service could be for you.
Deliveroo has signed up some of the best-known eateries across the city for a new online ordering service aiming to bring you restaurant food without stepping out your front door.
A total of 26 businesses have signed up to the new scheme so far with names on the menu including Reekie’s Smokehouse, Ola Kala, Hanams and ice cream kings S.Luca.
Aiming to keep the restaurant quality within the dishes, the service claims to work to an average delivery time of 32 minutes.
The firm's regional manager Caroline Hazlehurst said the business decided to set up its new regional office for Scotland and North East England in Edinburgh due to the city’s growing foodie scene.
“We decided to come to Edinburgh because of the huge foodie market, Caroline said.
“There's a buzz in the city and there are loads of good quality restaurants here, people are very educated about their food.
“They're really into food that's locally sourced and that means that they're likely to responds well to our service"
She added: "“Edinburgh is a really exciting market.”
As Deliveroo has just launched, the service is currently only available within the city centre, but already the team has plans to expand outwith the boundary.
“We launch in zones,” Caroline said.
“Those are based on average delivery times because we work with premium restaurants our drivers we don't want them spending longer than ten minutes maximum delivering food.
“We're launching in the city centre to start with, but we'll expand very rapidly out from there.
“If we're not in your postcode now, we hopefully will be very soon.”
You try the new venture via Deliveroo from noon until 11pm.
